Fadumolucky Jama, BSN, RN

Fadumolucky Jama completed the Nurse Residency Program at Mayo Clinic, with clinical experience in internal medicine and gastroenterology/hepatobiliary. Six months into her role, she was awarded a $40,000 intramural grant to develop culturally tailored diabetes education materials for Somali patients with limited English proficiency, under the mentorship of Jane Njeru, MB, ChB, Ahmed “Shafi’i” Mohamed, MD, and Janet Olson, PhD. She also contributed briefly to the development of GEMINEA, a diverse ancestry biobank led by Dr. Iftikhar J. Kullo, as part of the NHGRI and Mayo Clinic’s commitment to health equity.

In 2024, she was selected from a national pool of applicants to join the Emerging Leaders cohort at The Well, New Profit’s national gathering of rising social impact leaders advancing equity in education, economic mobility, and democracy across America. In 2022, Fadumolucky served as an AmeriCorps Hometown Fellow with Lead for America, where she revitalized the Housing & Redevelopment Authority of Hibbing’s HUD MTW resident support program. Her work led to the successful retention of a $100,000+ multi-year federal grant.

Rooted in her lived experience as a Type 1 Diabetic and guided by her clinical, research, and public service experience, Fadumolucky is deeply committed to serving the communities she calls home in Minnesota, the Horn of Africa, and beyond. She envisions becoming a physician-innovator that provides care that is deeply human—dignified, holistic, and attuned to the spiritual and cultural values of those she serves.
